CityFibre, the UK’s largest independent full fibre platform, has secured its place for a second year running in The Times Top 50 Employers for Gender Equality. This marks the fourth time this has been achieved by CityFibre since 2021.

Now in its 15th year, The Times’ collaboration with Business in the Community (BITC) has become a mark of excellence for businesses across the country to work towards. Inclusion on the list recognises an employer is a leader in workplace gender equality, celebrating progress and examples of best practice, impact, innovation, and individual achievement.

CityFibre has secured its place on The Times Top 50 list through a clear strategy and meaningful action, and it’s now building on that success. The company has recently refreshed its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) strategy, placing renewed emphasis on gender equality and tackling the barriers that hinder progress.

Key focus areas include enhanced initiatives, policies, and support around menopause, flexible working, maternity and paternity leave, health and wellbeing, and bereavement. CityFibre has also invested in tools, training, and peer-led support networks across the business, helping to ensure a fair, inclusive, and accessible recruitment experience for all new joiners.

As a result, a recent Employee Voice Survey (EVS) found that 85% of employees felt that they could be authentically themselves working at CityFibre. The majority of colleagues also felt that they experienced positive contribution to their department’s success.

Greg Mesch, Chief Executive at CityFibre, said: “Securing another year on The Times Top 50 list for gender equality is a fantastic achievement. Creating a workplace where people feel safe, supported, and valued isn’t optional, it’s essential to our success. As we continue our progress, its vital we continue to listen and learning from our colleagues. We’re committed to building on this momentum and ensuring everyone at CityFibre feels empowered.”

Sarah Malin, Director of Group Operations and Programme Management, added: “I’m proud to be part of a company that’s actively making space for women to lead. We’re not just talking about change - we’re delivering it. From building diverse candidate pipelines, to launching apprenticeships that champion women in leadership, we’re creating real opportunities for women to grow, thrive and lead across our business.”
